چکیده

Abstract. Idealized models of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) can be used to leverage understanding interaction between ABL and wind farms towards improvement farm flow modeling. We propose a pressure-driven one-dimensional model without veer, which as an inflow for three-dimensional simulations separately demonstrate impact veer depth. The is derived from horizontal momentum equations follows both Rossby Reynolds number similarity; use such similarity reduces computation time allows rational comparison different conditions. proposed compares well with solutions mean that include if forcing variable employed free parameter.

Interactions within the turbulent boundary layer at high Reynolds number

Simultaneous streamwise velocity measurements across the vertical direction obtained in the atmospheric surface layer (Reτ 5 × 10) under near thermally neutral conditions are used to outline and quantify interactions between the scales of turbulence, from the very-large-scale motions to the dissipative scales. Results from conditioned spectra, joint probability density functions and conditional...

Observations on High Reynolds Number Turbulent Boundary Layer Measurements

An experimental study that examines spatial resolution effects on the measured streamwise velocity component is presented. Normal hot-wire measurements for mean flow velocity profiles, streamwise turbulence intensity profiles in addition to their respective spectra at different levels within the turbulent boundary layers will be presented. Measurements were carried out at Reynolds number based ...

Some predictions of the attached eddy model for a high Reynolds number boundary layer.

Many flows of practical interest occur at high Reynolds number, at which the flow in most of the boundary layer is turbulent, showing apparently random fluctuations in velocity across a wide range of scales. The range of scales over which these fluctuations occur increases with the Reynolds number and hence high Reynolds number flows are difficult to compute or predict. In this paper, we discus...

Measurements of streamwise and spanwise fluctuating velocity components in a high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layer

Measurements of the streamwise and spanwise fluctuating velocity components are obtained in a high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layer using custom made sub-miniature hot wires. These measurements are made over a range of Reynolds numbers from Reτ ≈ 3,000 to Reτ ≈ 10,500, but at fixed unit Reynolds number U∞/ν (Reτ = δUτ/ν; where ν is the kinematic viscosity, Uτ is the friction velocity an...
